1st in World Ranking, Epangue, qualified for London

Gwladys Epangue, who was also a gold medalist at the 2011 World Taekwondo Championships, went to the final with no problems and fought for the gold medal against Sae-Bom An. In the 2011 World Taekwondo Championships, Epangue’s opponent in the final was also a South Korean athlete, Hye-ri Oh.

An, who is only 21 years old, was able to get to the finals despite a cold and an injury on her right foot. Even though she was classified for the London 2012 Olympic Games, she showed tears of disappointment as she lost against her veteran opponent.

The final results for female +67kg were:

1) Gwladys Epangue (FRA)

2) Sae-Bom An (KOR)

3) Anastasiia Baryshnikova (RUS)
