2013 Taekwondo Day: Message from Jacques Rogge
Message from the President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge:
On behalf of the Olympic Movement, I would like to convey my best wishes on the occasion of the celebrations to mark the 2013 Taekwondo Day.
Held every year on 4 September since 2006, this Day commemorates the official recognition of taekwondo as an Olympic sport in 1994.
This Day is also the perfect opportunity to show taekwondo’s strong commitment to the values and and ideals of Olympism, pursuing excellence, ensuring fair play and promoting friendship.
I would like here to congratulate the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and its President, Dr Chungwon Choue, for having taken such a commendable initiative. The WTF could wish for no better way of promoting its sport for generations to come.
I wish you all an enjoyable celebration and a happy 2013 Taekwondo Day!
