Seniors – Days 3 and 4 – Report
Korea shone lat weekend at the 6th edition of the Russian International Open with no less than 5 gold medals in the Senior categories of the event, overtaking Russia in the last day of competition by 1 title (4) and Croatia, who performed at a great level in Moscow by 2 (3). Iran, Italy, Turkey and Ukraine clinched 1 title each to complete the 16 Senior divisions in play.
Korea took the first position of the medal race after five of its athletes completed an extraordinay performance in Moscow: Jae-ha Seo climbed to the top of the Men’s -58 kg podium after beating local hero Artamonov by 9-6 in the big final; Je-yeup Kim tasted gold in Men’s -68 kg after getting rid of no other than Iranian star Asbaghikhanghah in the final match of the draw by 7-4; Seok-bae Kim proved to be the strongest athlete in the Men’s -63 kg division after defeating his compatriot Kwon-joong Kim by a comfortable 11-2 in the last clash of the category; and Min-jeong Kim reigned in Women’s -53 kg after proving to be stronger than her team mate Min-ah Ha in the big final of the event by an extremely close 3-2.
