Arab Games 2011, kicked off in Doha Qatar
The 12th Arab Games Taekwondo competition kicked off on December 14th at the Qatar Sports Club, located in the center of Doha, Qatar.
This WTF sanctioned G-1 event gathered 154 participants from 17 countries, including Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, and UAE. Around 44% of the total number of competitors is from African countries and the rest is from Asian countries. There are 57 female athletes and 97 male athletes.
The first day of the competition consisted of male -54kg and -74kg, and female -46kg and -62kg categories. In the male categories, Tameem Al-Kubati from Yemen and Anas Al adarbi from Jordan won in -54kg and -74kg respectively. In female categories, Egyptian Aya Ali and Tunisian Nihel Borji were gold medalists in -46kg and -62kg respectively.
The Arab Games Taekwondo competition will go on until December 17th, with two male and two female categories each day.
