Argentina wins first gold medal

Argentina won its first gold medal in London 2012, and it was in Taekwondo.
On August 10, Argentina’s Sebastian Eduardo Crismanich fought the men’s -80kg final at the ExCel Centre against Spanish Nicolas Garcia Hemme, and defeated him 1-0, clinching the first gold medal for Argentina.
Crismanich’s gold medal is not only Argentina’s first ever gold medal in Taekwondo, but also the first gold medal won by Argentina in London 2012.
Spanish Garcia added a silver medal for Spain, making it an amazing total of 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals in Taekwondo.
Meanwhile, the American two-time Olympic gold medalist Steven Lopez lost in the preliminary round against Ramin Azizov, from Azerbaijan.
