Days 2 and 3 – Report
Iran clearly set the standard at Asian Club Championship 2016, which wrapped up today in Sharjah, after collecting no less than 12 out of 16 Senior titles. The other nation to clinch more than 1 gold medal was UAE, with a total of 2, while Oman and Kazakhstan won 1 title each.
Between Friday and Saturday, Iran grabbed 10 golds, 5 each day. The makers of such an incredible performance were Omouriharis, who shone in Female’s -57 kg after beating Al-Salti from Oman by 4-3 in the final; Rouhani, who dominated in Women’s -62 kg after getting rid of Alhadhrami from UAE by a comfortable 19-1; Mostafa, the strongest in the Women’s -73 kg draw after edging local Zakini in the gold medal match by 7-1; world number 1 Yaghoubi, who struggled to beat Serikbaye from Kazakhstan in the Men’s -63 kg final by 9-7 to add another gold for Iran; Khosrowfar, who proved to be much stronger than Al-Tayer from UAE to reach the top of the podium (29-2); Madahi, who defeated her compatriot Safari in the Women’s -49 kg final by 3-0; Farshidi, who won yet another Iranian final in Women’s -67 against Akhlaghi through a golden point; Rangrazza, who was the best in the Women’s +73 final, where she beat Sohrabi from the same country by 3-1; Ghavam, who shone in Men’s -58 kg after edging Malik from Palestina in the crucial fight by 7-1; and Benham Asbaghikhanghah, who defeated Alrushaidi from Qatar by 1-0 in the Men’s -68 kg final.
The other two golds of the last two days of action were Vedran Golec from UAE, who tasted glory at home after beating Shiri from Iran in the Men’s +87 kg final by 8-3, and Bielkin Vadym, who defeated Khodami from Iran by 9-6 to climb to the top of the Men’s -87 kg podium.
With these results, Iran reigned on top of the medal count with 12 golds, followed by UAE with 2. Oman and Kazakhstan clinched 1 gold each to complete the 16 divisions in competition.

Day 1 – Report
Iran collected 2 out of 4 gold medals on the first day of action at Asian Club Championship 2016, which kicked off today in the city of Sharjah, UAE, to place itself on top of the standings with still two competition days to go. The other two titles on Thursday were taken by Oman and Kazakhstan.
The two golden athletes for Iran were Bahareh Nadrkhanlou, who shone above the rest of competitiors in Women’s -53 kg after beating Fariza Aldangorova from Kazakhstan in the final by superiority, and Ali Pakdin, who proved to be the strongest athlete in Men’s -80 kg after defeating Al Toobi from Oman in the gold medal match by a comfortable 8-0.
The first title for Oman in the event was won by Manar Al Zadjali, who climbed to the top of the Women’s -46 kg podium after getting rid of Abibulla from Kazakhstan in the last match of the draw thanks to a golden point in the extra period, while the first crown for Kazakhstan was taken by Serikbay, who dominated the Men’s -54 kg category after edging Eshaghi from Iran by a close 4-3 in the big final.
