Azerbaijan’s Farida Azizova has won a place for her country in the 2012 London Olympic Games Taekwondo Competition.

In this tournament, the first three athletes of each category can secure a place for their country in the Olympic Games.

Sergerie, who lost against Azizova in the quarterfinals, occupies the third place in the WTF World Ranking, being one of the participants with the highest ranking in this tournament. Great Britain’s Sarah Stevenson, second in the World Ranking, did not participate in this tournament as she had been automatically qualified for the Olympic Games for belonging to host country.

The Sarhadchi Olympic Center was filled with cheers and joy when Azizova’s fellows saw her win over Sergerie and then Johansson in the semifinals, obtaining a participation in the 2012 London Olympic Games for Azerbaijan, this tournament’s host country.

In the final match, Azizova lost against Mi-Kyung Kim by only point obtaining 2nd place.
