Day 3 – Report
Thailand, Norway, Egypt and Iran clinched 2 titles each after all the action was completed at Fujairah Open 2016, which wrapped up today Thursday with the remaining Senior categories in competition.
Cyprus, Netherlands, Croatia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Belgium and Sweden won 1 gold each to complete the 16 Senior divisions.
The second Thai gold was taken on Thursday after Panipak Wongpattanakit defeated Iris Tang Sing in the Women’s -49 kg final by 8-5, while the first Belarus title came through the superb performance by Arman Silla in Men’s +87 kg, after beating Vedran Golec from UAE by 7-4 in the crucial fight. The golden athlete for Azerbaijan was Farida Azizova, who dominated in Women’s -67 kg after getting rid of Deniz from Kazakhstan in the last match of the draw by a clear 9-3, as Jaouad Achab did the same for Belgium in Men’s -63 kg after comfortably getting rid of Egyptian Aly in the gold medal match. The hero of the event for Jordan was Abughaush, who reigned in Men’s -68 kg after smashing Alrushaid from Qatar in the final by 13-3, while the main fighter for Sweden ended up being Nikita Glasnovic, who shone in Women’s -57 kg over the rest of competitors to taste glory after a great final against Pham from Vietnam (5-1).

Day 2 – Report
Seniors and Juniors were the athletes involved in Fujairah Open 2016 wednesday action. In Seniors, Norway won its second gold medal in the event as five other countries clinched their first titles in Fujairah on Wednesday, the second day of action of the 2016 edition. These 5 nations were Iran, Cyprus, Netherlands, Croatia and Egypt. With these results, Norway leads the medal count with 2 golds, followed by Thailand and the previously mentioned nations.
The second title for Norway was clinched by Tina Skaar, who shone over the rest of athletes in Women’s -73 kg, tasting glory after beating Milica Mandic from Serbia by 10-5 in the final.
The golden representative for Iran was Armin Hadipour, who dominated the Men’s -54 kg division after defeating Irish Jack Woolley in the gold medal match by a comfortable 9-0. Seif Eissa was the most successful fighter for Egypt, as he climbed to the top of the Men’s -74 kg podium after getting rid of Khosrowfa from Iran by a clear 8-0 in the last match of the draw. In Female’s +73 kg, Reshme Oogink from Netherlands left no chance to the rest of contendants and tasted gold after proving to be stronger than German Bradl in the final, which the Dutch won by 5-2. The other 2 titles of the day were taken by Kouttouki from Cyprus, who edged Goffin from Belgium in the Women’s -46 kg final by 9-0, and Lucija Zaninovic from Croatia, who added another gold to her collection after beating no other than Chanatip Sonkham from Thailand in the crucial fight of the Women’s -53 kg division.
In Juniors, a total of 13 categories were completed on Wednesday with Kazakhstan adding 3 more titles to the 2 grabbed on Tuesday, finishing on top of the medal count of the category with 5 golds.

Day 1 – Report
Cadets, Juniors and Seniors were all involved in the first day of action at Fujairah Open 2016, a G-2 category event on the WTF calendar, with Jordan, Palestine, Kazakhstan, Thailand and Norway standing out over the rest of nations. The Jordanian representatives dominated the Cadet divisions after clinching 5 out of 16 gold medals, followed by Palestine with a total of 4 Cadet titles.
The Cadet category was the only on to be completed on Tuesday, while a total of 5 Junior draws and 2 senior divisions were also played during the day.
In Juniors, Kazakhstan was the only country to take more than 1 gold medal, grabbing 2 out of 5 titles.
In Seniors, the two first golds of the event were awarded to Thailand and Norway, with the 14 remaining scheduled to be completed during wednesday and thursday. The golden guy for Thailand on Tuesday was Tawin Hanprab, who beat Salaheddine Bensaleh from Belgium in the Men’s -58 kg final by 10-7 in the extra time to climb to the top of the podium. The bronze medalists of the division ended up being Laachraoui from Belgium, who lost 9-5 to the Thai representative in Semis, and Vietnamese Nguyen, who was defeated by the champion in the other Semi by 8-6.
The golden athlete for Norway was Richard Andre Ordemann, who clearly got rid of Aladarbi from Jordan by 8-2 in the Men’s -80 kg crucial fight to taste glory.
