Mexico shone over the rest of teams involved in the 2019 edition of the 18th Galeb Belgrade Trophy – Serbia Open, which was held in the Serbian capital last weekend, after bagging home 3 Senior titles, more than any other nation competing in this division.
Australia, Iran and Poland also stood out from the rest after grabbing 2 gold medals each, while Spain, Serbia, Vietnam, Russia, France, USA and Tunisia clinched 1 title each to complete the 16 Senior classes in competition.
The 3 Mexican fighters who lifted their country to the top of the medal count were: Bryan Salazar, who proved to be the best in Men’s -87 kg after beating N’Diaye from France in the gold medal match of the category by 16-9; Maria Espinoza, who added another Women’s -73 kg title to her cabinet after getting rid of Hadzic from Germany in the sudden death period of the final (2-0); and Ashley Arana, who reigned in Women’s +73 kg after defeating Babic from Croatia by 5-2 in the crucial fight of the draw.
