Report
Belgium, Croatia, Germany and Serbia took two gold medals each to stand out as the best Senior nations of the Greece Open 2015, which was held last weekend in the city of Thessaloniki with no less than 1,400 athletes involved. Greece, Great Britain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Iran, Cyprus, Spain and Poland collected the rest of titles to complete the 16 Senior divisions.
The heroes of Belgium, Croatia, Germany and Serbia’s superb performance were: Levent Tuncat (GER), who won the Men’s -58 after beating Sezer (TUR) in the final; Deni Andrun (CRO), who became the Men’s -63 kg champion thanks to his victory over Jaouad Achab (BEL); Tijana Bogdanovic (SRB), the new Women’s -49 kg champion after defeating Yildirim (TUR); Indra Craen (BEL), who tasted gold in the Women’s -53 kg division, leaving the silver for Yangin (TUR); Anna-Lena Froemming (GER), who cimbed to the top of the Women’s -57 kg category getting rid of the local Kontou (GRE); Ana Bajic (SRB), Greece Open 2015 Women’s -67 kg gold medallist thanks to her win over Pineiro (ESP); and Iva Rados (CRO), who clinched the second gold for her country after beating another Turkish athlete, Ayin.
This was the first G-1 event of the year on WTF’s calendar, also being the first official G-1 category event to use the Daedo electronic head gear in competition, which means a really big step forward to our sport.
