Jade Jones visits hometown college to promote Taekwondo
Olympic taekwondo gold medallist Jade Jones helped inspire more people to take up the sport on a visit to her local college.
Jones, from Flint (Wales), joined students in a Zumba class at Coleg Cambria in Connah’s Quay and held a short Taekwondo demonstration.
A £45,000 lottery scheme has been launched at the college to encourage young people to take up sport.
Jones’s visit aimed to inspire a new generation of sports people.
Coleg Cambria would have been the Olympic star’s local college after attending Flint High School.
But she was awarded National Lottery funding for elite athletes and moved to Manchester to train full-time at the Great Britain team’s taekwondo base.
