Korea conquers the Individual Poomsae Event at the Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships
Korea conquered the whole Individual Poomsae event of the 2nd Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on May 4.
A total of 6 gold medals were disputed in the individual male and female categories, for under-29, under-39 and over-39 years old.
Korea participated in Individual Poomsae and showed its power as the mother country of Taekwondo, by winning all the possible medals: Wang-Kon Hwang(male -29),
Jin-Han Lee (male -39), Sung-Hey Kim (male +39), Su-Ji Kang (female -29), Eon-Hwa Seong (female -39), Suk-Kyung Lee (female +39).
In the group event, there were male and female categories for under-29 and over-29. The U-29 gold medals were clinched by the Philippines (male) and Vietnam (female). Iran won 2 gold medals, for both male and female over-29 categories.
In the Pair Poomsae event, Vietnam won another gold medal in the U-29, and Thailand grabbed the gold medal of the over 29 category.
In the overall ranking, Korea became 1st with 6 gold medals, followed by Vietnam with 2 golds, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, and Iran was 3rd with 2 golds, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals.
Further down was Philippines, which clinched 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals; and Thailand, with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The competition took place at the Phu Tho Stadium, where the Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships will take place from May 6-8, followed by the Asian Taekwondo Championships, in May 9-11.
