On July 4th, President Hong was elected as the Chairman of the Grand National Party out of 5 candidates. President Hong had also attempted to be the representative of the party last year but was unsuccessful. In this election, he received 41,666 votes and there was a difference of approximately 10,000 votes between President Hong and the candidate on the second place.
For this election, the board members of the KTA and the Korean Taekwondo community were actively participating in the campaign. Already an influential politician in Korea and empowered by this election as the Chairman of the party, the Taekwondo community is expecting President Hong to work harder for the development of Taekwondo in the future.
