Russia proved to be the strongest nation at the 2019 edition of the Warsaw Cup 2019, held in the Polish capital during last weekend, after clinching no less than 4 Senior titles and 3 bronze medals on Saturday, more than any other coutry involved in the event.
The 4 Russian fighters who helped their country shine over the rest in Warsaw last weekend were: Rafael Kamalov, who defeated Bondar from Ukraine by 19-6 to reign in Men’s 87 kg; Rafail Aiukaev, who proved to be the best in Men’s +87 kg after beating Hatowski from Poland by 17-4; world number 1 Tatiana Kudashova, who smashed Ronken from Germany by 23-0 to reach the top of the Women’s -53 kg podium; and Polina Khan, who struggled to bag the Women’s -73 kg crown after edging Zanoni from Spain by a close 9-8.
Spain, Great Britain and Germany took 2 gold medals each, while Croatia, USA, Poland, Ukraine, Norway and Israel climbed to the top of the podium in one occasion each to complete the 16 Senior divisions in competition.
Spain finished in second place of the medal count after collecting 2 silvers and 5 bronzes, with Germany taking the third with 2 silvers and 3 bronzes. Great Britain had to content with the last position among the 2 gold medallists after failing to win any other medal apart from the 2 titles.
