Press Meeting Hosted by TPF Chairman
On February 27, 2012, Mr. Bae Jhong-Shin, Chairman of Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF) hosted a press meeting to explain about current state of the Taekwondo Park construction and other major TPF related issues. 11 reporters from taekwondo journals such as World Taekwon Media, Mookas, Taekwonline etc. participated in the meeting at the TPF conference room.
TPF has a plan to complete the Taekwondo Park by June 2013 while aiming to achieve 76.5 percent construction of the Park by the end of this year. The Taekwondo Park, after its completion, is expected to become a great gathering place for all taekwondoists as well as a center of taekwondo education, training, and international exchanges.
At the moment, TPF is doing its utmost in preparing operation details of the Park such as taekwondo education and training programs, taekwondo related exhibition, cultural contents, and related manuals. In addition, TPF is going to develop Brand Identity (BI) of the Park including a symbol, slogan, and symbolic names for each facility.
Further, TPF is planning to operate a taekwondo exhibition hall in London during the 2012 Olympic Games to publicize the spread of Olympic spirit through taekwondo and to support taekwondo’s selection as one of the Olympic core sports.
TPF is also planning to host the 4th World Youth Taekwondo Camp this year to conduct Olympic Values Education Program (OVEP), taekwondo training, and international cultural exchanges. About 200 participants from 20 countries are expected to participate in the Camp which will be held from July 19 to July 24.
Another important project this year for TPF is to hold an international symposium. The purpose of the symposium is to introduce educational and moral values of taekwondo, and then to extend academic research base on taekwondo. The topic of this year’s symposium has been decided as ‘Olympic Spirit and Taekwondo,’ and TPF is considering to invite one of IOC members as a keynote speaker for the symposim.
In the press meeting, other issues such as the field trip to the Taekwondo Park for the press, new naming for the Park, raising donations to construct the Spirit Zone of the Park, a matter of more active communication and cooperation among taekwondo organizations have been discussed.
