Russia was the most successful country in the second day of action at Hammamet 2018 Qualification Tournament for Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games after collecting 2 gold medals on Saturday. China, Iran and Greece were the other 3 nations to taste gold on the final day of action of the event.
The golden athletes for Russia were: Georgy Popov, who shone over the rest of contestants in Men¡s -55 kg after defeating Ioannou from Greece in the big final by 27-7; and Polina Shcherbakova, who was the best in Women’s -44 kg after outscoring Kang from Korea by 14-9 in the crucial fight of the draw.

Day 1 – Report
Egypt grabbed two titles after the first day of action at Hammamet 2018 Qualification Tournament for Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games was completed to stand out over the rest of countries on Friday. USA, Mexico and Uzbekistan were the other nations to taste gold with 1 title each.
The two Egyptian athletes to climb to the top of the podium were: Eyda Barakt, who proved to be the strongest in Men’s -73 kg after getting rid of Eshkevarian from Iran in the big final by 33-30; and Elsayed, who reigned in Men’s +73 kg after beating Lee from Chinese Taipei by 12-8 for the gold medal.
Iran secured three quota places with Korea, Croatia, Tunisia, Russia, USA, Egypt, Serbia and Chinese Taipei all winning two places. A further 21 countries won one quota place each.
A further 38 places will be allocated today with the remaining 22 places decided through wildcards and host city quotas. A total of 100 athletes will compete at Buenos Aires 2018.
