Slovenia Open 2020 (G-1): Croatia leads the count with 5 golds

Croatia proved to be the strongest team at the 2020 edition of the Slovenia International Taekwondo Open after winning 5 gold medals in the Senior division of the event, which was held in the capital of the country, Ljubljana, last Sunday February 23rd.
Three other nations, Bulgaria, Germany and Serbia, managed to step on top of the final podium more than once and took 2 titles each, while Austria, Belgium, Macedonia, Greece and Slovenia grabbed 1 gold to complete the 16 classes in competition.
The 5 golden fighters who lifted Croatia to the top of the medal count in Ljubljana last Sunday were: Luka Turkalj, who defeated Ditta from Italy in the gold medal match of the Men’s -54 kg; Ivan Vrgoc, who dominated the Men’s -80 kg class after getting rid of Sajko from Slovenia in the crucial fight of the draw; Kristina Tomic, who reached the top of the Women’s -53 kg podium after edging another Slovenian, Petrusic, in the big final; Kristina Beros, who became the Women’s -57 kg champion after beating Nicoli from Italy for the glory; and Laura Glasnovic, who proved to be the strongest in Women’s -73 kg after edging Nitsa from Germany in the last fight of the bracket.
