Spokane 2018 Pan Am Championships (G-4): Mexico succeeds with 5 golds

Mexico dominated the 2018 Pan Am Kyorugi Senior Championships, which was held yesterday in Spokane, Washington, USA, after collecting 5 out of the 16 gold medals awarded in the event. Brazil and USA clinched 3 titles each, while Canada climbed to the top of the podium in two occasions. Panama, Dominican Republic and Haiti were also able to taste gold in one occasion each.
The Mexian heroes of the event were: Uriel Adriano, who proved to be the strongest in Men’s -8’0 kg after getting rid of Hernandez from Dominican Republic by 8-2 in the big final; Brandon Plaza, who tasted gold in Men’s -58 kg after defeating Pie from Dominican Republic by a clear 22-8 in the last fight of the draw; Ashley Arana, who beat her compatriot Briseida Acosta by a close 12-10 in the Women’s +73 kg gold medal match to lift the title; Carlos Sansores, who was the best in Men’s +87 kg after edging Lambdin from USA by a comfortable 14-1 in the gold medal match; and Bryan Salazar, who became the new Men’s -87 kg champion after outscoring Soares from Brazil by 5-4 in the crucial fight of the draw.
