Taiwanese taekwondo star Yang Shu-chun wins at the Dutch Open.
On March 17th, Yang Shu-chun won in the -49kg category at the 39th Dutch Open Taekwondo Championships that took place in Eindhoven.
The Taiwanese athlete won 5 fights to grab the gold medal. In the first 3 fights she won with impressive scores: 13-3, 12-0 and 14-1. In the semi-final she met Lucija Zaninovic, who is ranked 9th in the WTF Olympic Ranking, and is, together with her twin sister Ana, one of the Croatian taekwondo stars.
After a tight match against Lucija, Yang won by just one point, 6-5. In the final, she met Guatemalan athlete Elizabeth Zamora Gordillo and beat her 4-3.
Yang’s coach, Liu Tsung-ta said about this open championship that it was “an opportunity to observe her potential competitors in the Olympics”.

On the following day, Ana Zaninovic won the gold in the -54kg category. Ana is ranked 5th in the -57kg category of the Olympic Ranking.
Aaron Cook, who obtained unsatisfied results in the German Open, won the gold in the -80kg category.
