The 18th Croatia Open kicks off tomorrow in Zagreb

The 18th edition of the Croatia Open starts tomorrow at the Dom Sportova Arena of Zagreb with a total of 1,370 athletes registered for the competition. The event, an A-Class torunament on the ETU calendar, will last from Saturday morning until Sunday night and the contestants will be divided into three modalities (Cadet, Junior and Senior).
The 8 draws that make up the Senior category (Female’s -46, -49, -53, -57, -62, -67, -73, +73 kgs, and Male’s -54, -58, -63, -68, -74, -80, -87, +87 kgs) will all be completed on the first day of action, with the qualifying fights beginning at 9:30 am. The semi-finals and finals will take place between 2 pm and 8 pm and the medal ceremonies will start right after the last crucial fight. The combats will have 3 rounds of 2 minutes each with a 30 seconds break between the periods.
The final Team standings will be made by adding up the points accumulated by each nation’s contestants, with one gold medal being rewarded with 7 points, one silver with 3 and one bronze with 1. All fighters will also be given 1 extra point for their participation in the event and 1 more point for every combat they win.
The Junior competition will begin on Saturday with the activity of the Women’s -42, -46, -52, -59 and -68 kgs draws, and the Men’s -45, -51, -59, -68 and -78 kgs combats. Sunday will be the day for the rest of Junior disciplines (Female’s -44, -49, -55, -63 and +68 kgs, and Male’s -48, -55, -63, -73 and +78 kgs) and for the whole of Cadet categories (Women’s -29, -33, -37, -41, -44, -47, -51, -55, -59, and +59 kgs and Men’s -33, -37, -41, -45, -49, -53, -57, -61, -65 and +65 kgs).
