Tokyo 2020 Olympics announces Schedule
Taekwondo competition to be held from July 25 to 28 at Makuhari Messe Hall A
The Organizing Committee of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games has announced the Olympic Competition Schedule of the event, which will take place in the Japanese capital from July 22 to August 9 next year with 52 different sports involved.
Taekwondo competition will be split in 4 days of action at Makuhari Messe Hall A, lasting from Saturday July 25th to Tuesday the 28th.
The first two categories to compete on the Mats at Makuhari Messe Hall will be Women’s -49 kg and Men’s -58 kg, while Women’s -57 kg and Men’s -68 kg will be in action on Sunday. Monday will be the day for Men’s -80 kg and Women’s -67 kg, leaving the final day of Taekwondo for Men’s +80 kg and Women’s +67 kg.
The gold and silver medals of all divisions will be decided as usual, in a trhilling final match, while the bronze medallists of the each division (2 bronzes per category) will be determined in a repechage draw which will confront the losers of the semifinals against the two best losers of the Quarterfinals. The 4 Quarterfinals’ losers will have to earn their place in the two bronze medal matches of the class by facing and beating another Quarterfinalist first.
