WTF Continental Union Leaders Meet at the Headquarters
The five WTF Continental Union Leaders and board members gathered for an Expansion Committee Meeting on February 3 at the WTF Headquarters in Seoul.
The closed meeting took place until February 4. Although the WTF did not reveal the details of such meeting, the main topics were, reportedly, hosting successful Olympic Games in London and ensuring the position of taekwondo as an Olympic sport.
WTF President Chung Won Choue said in an interview held with the Korean media that: “Together with the PSS and the video replay we hope that errors due to the judges will decrease, and expect to see more fairness in this edition of the Olympic Games.”
Ivan Dibos, IOC member and also WTF Vice-President expressed that “it is difficult to find negative aspects in taekwondo. I am sure that it will remain in the Olympics.”
Aside from the Olympics, WTF’s Global Membership system and Pro-taekwondo were reportedly discussed during the meeting.
The participants of this meeting were WTF President Chung Won Choue, Secretary General Jin Suk Yang, ATU President Dai Soon Lee, ETU President Athanasios Pragalos, PATU President Ji Ho Choi, and AFTU President Ahmed El-Fouly. OTU Secretary General John Kotsifas attended the meeting instead of President Phillip Walter Coles.
In the afternoon, after the meeting ended on February 4, participants took a group photo in taekwondo poomsae uniforms and then took off to visit an old palace.
