WTF President Chungwon Choue??s Father Passes Away

WTF President Chungwon Choue’s father, Dr. Young-Seek Choue, passed away on the 18th of February at 5 PM due to his illness. He was 91 years old.
Dr. Young-Seek Choue was born in 1921 in Woon San, North Pyongan Province, and graduated from Seoul National University Law School in 1947. Four years later, in 1951, he started his path in education by taking over Kyung Hee University when it had been freshly established as Shinheung Junior College in Seoul.
Dr. Choue, founder of Kyung Hee University, also founded an incorporated educational institution including Kyung Hee High School, Kyung Hee Middle School, Kyung Hee Elementary School and Kyung Hee Kindergarten – making major contributions to society and becoming one of the leading educators in Korea.
Dr. Choue also leaded the creation of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) and was named honorary chairman. He also advocated the Global Common Society (GCS) movement and the UN International Day of Peace.
He married late Mrs. Jeong-Myong Oh in 1943 and had 4 children, including President Chungwon Choue.
Dr. Choue’s remains will be kept at the Kyung Hee University Peace Hall, where the funeral will take place on February 23rd at 9 AM.
